Well, that blew the cobwebs off

We intended a trip up to the Orwell, but the weather had other ideas. The winds over the last few weekends have been have been unseasonably strong, this weekend was no exception. An old pal, Bill, and myself only made it as far as Brightlingsea on Saturday, via a washing machine ride, against both wind and tide down the Blackwater. The forecast for the return trip the following day was for a F8, but this blew most of itself out during Saturday night. The return trip back to West Mersea, under headsail alone, was a pleasant sail back.

Only negative for the weekend was the lack of eating venues. Plenty of pubs, no bad thing, but apart from the Kovalam Indian restaurant and fish and chips, there is a limited choice in Brightlingsea.

Just been told about the Rosebud. Will try this out next time in town.
